The first time I saw this photo, I got lost in its magnificence. It narrates the hidden tales of the mankind’s soul. The story of opposites and contradictions.
It shows all aspects of the life.
The left side of the picture depicts the Heaven within oneself, the peacefulness of the mind.It’s as calm and lovely as a rainbow in spring.
The right side depicts the Hell inside. It represents the flaming anxious nervousness. It’s a tornado of fire. It’s as harsh as a volcano eruption.
Carl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist, states:“Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness”. Similar to Jung’s quotation, this picture is a case of coincidentia oppositorum (coincidence of opposites). Jung believes opposites are each other’s poison and healing. And one can only “achieve balance” by nurturing one’s “opposite”. Coincidence of opposites resolve contradictions and leads to unity and infinity. Coincidence of opposite is the wall of paradise, beyond which is God.
Therefore, in the middle I see the real peace. I see a state of unified wholeness; a state which all contradictions are resolved. I see purpose. I see meaning. I see …
