As you wake up, you are going to turn on your computer. The very first thing to check is the facebook. WOW! You have 50 notifications, and six friend requests! However, are all those requests have been sent to you by your real friends? Or how much is the chance that they become your friends in the future?

I know that I am exaggerating when I am saying the ‘stupid connection’. Not all connections in facebook are stupid, but most of them are. It seems that Facebook environment is only for entertainment and leisure; in addition, a little news, or gossips. It is true that facebook lets you to find your old friend. But on the other hand, how is the quality of those connections or relations? Maybe I am a skeptic, but now I think the dark sides of facebook are more dominant (My opinion may alter over time).
As I said before, finding old friends is a good thing. But does not facebook weakening the relations with current friends? It makes relations kind of artificial. Instead of seeing my friend in person, I meet with them in facebook. Instead of hearing their voice, I see their statuses. Or instead of sending a happy birthday card, we write on their walls. Currently, the whole thing is ok. But I am worried about the future. I do not think that the environment of facebook is a constructive one. The problem gets worse when you become addicted to facebook. For example, as you turn on your laptop you check that facebook. Or you share some links just to feel good by counting the likes. Some might say ok then, do not use facebook at all. It is noteworthy to tell you that I am a kind of guy who turns off his cell phone sometimes more than 2 weeks (just to check that I am still independent!). For me facebook is like that cell phone thing. I will continue to use it. But I prefer to be a free decision maker rather than a victim.

It is true that facebook has become an undeniable part of our lives and societies (according to facebook statistics, facebook has more than 500 million members). We are human, we are intelligent. It is on us to control the facebook and make it more useful. For instance, by sharing more meaningful things. Or sometimes we can simply leave it; we can read a good book instead. In short, I believe we have to ponder our usage of facebook, and revise it for a better good.
